What We Believe
About God
We believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and that God is still creating. God is the spiritual parent of every person and the Lord of all history. God's will is for love and wholeness for every person and for all creation.
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the unique son and self-revelation of God. He is the full expression of God's love for us. In Christ's resurrection we find power for our lives and the source of our salvation.
About the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the living presence of God with us and in us. The Holy Spirit is the power of God to cleanse, heal, inspire and empower. The Holy Spirit is present and at work within the church today.
About the Human Condition
We believe that we are basically vain, proud, self-seeking and self-serving people who often care for ourselves at the expense of others. But in Jesus Christ we see a God of boundless love. We believe God accepts and forgives us. Even though God's grace cannot be earned, it must be accepted and lived as a changed life to be real.
About the Christian Life
The biblical concept of the life of faith is that we are to grow toward Christlikeness. It is God's Spirit that leads us to this goal. It involves us in a serious quest of love for God and neighbor.
About the Church
We believe the church is the Body of Christ, the people of God in the world. It is the community of faith that holds itself open to the healing and empowering presence of God to make it an effective tool for good in the world.
About Eternal Life
Eternal life is the ultimate gift of God. It begins with the new birth but has final hope in the reality of resurrection. It is the assurance that God has overcome death. We do not know what life beyond will be, but we are assured it is with God.
